  • What is Slow Burn?
The Slow Burn Studio offers a high intensity, low impact full body workout. Our pilates-based program is meant for all levels and uses the safe training technique called Slow Resistance Training. It strengthens, tightens and tones the entire body, integrating traditional lengthening and stretching techniques.
  • I am ready to start my first class. Do I need to start with a private lesson?
Unlike traditional Pilates, the XFORMER workout is taught in a small group class format and a private session is not required. Our skilled instructors are great at adjusting and modifying each class for all fitness levels. However, if you have back pain, painful joints, or a severe medical condition, we recommended you take a private first to assess your fitness level. If you have any concerns, please let us know and we can assess whether a private session is appropriate. Email us at info@studioslowburn.com if you have any questions.
  • Why do we move so slowly?
It's in our name! Moving slowly through exercises is challenging. Removing momentum from each move forces your slow-twitch (smaller muscle fibers) to activate. This helps you fatigue faster and allows you to build muscles while burning fat. Think of your slow-twitch muscles as your endurance muscles, like running a marathon, you maintain energy to complete the race!
  • How early should I arrive to class?
If it is your first class, please arrive at least 10 minute prior your class’s start time. This will provide you with ample time to get acclimated with the studio and the XFORMER. We take pride in giving you the ultimate fitness experience and your safety is our # 1 priority. If it isn’t your first class, we recommend arriving at least 5 minutes before the start of class.
  • What is the cancellation policy?
You may cancel a class anytime before 12 hours from the start of your session with no cancel fees and no lost credits. If you cancel within 12 hours from the start of class, you will receive a $15 late cancellation fee.  If you booked the class with a class credit, (an single class or use a class pack), you will also lose the credit that you used to book the class.
  • What if I do not show up to a class?
If you do not show up to a class and/or do not late cancel the class, a $25 no show fee will be charged as well as a loss of a credit if you book class using a credit. No exceptions! Please try to late cancel when possible! It gives our instructors a chance to fill up your spot in the class that you are unable to attend.
  • What if I arrive late?
While we recommend that you arrive 5 minutes before class starts, we understand that life happens and will hold your spot for the first 5 minutes of class. However, if you arrive more than 5 minutes after class has started, your spot may be given to standby client and the no-show policy will stand. Not only is this to respect the atmosphere of the class that is currently in session, but it is also to ensure your safety. Notify us as soon as you think something is up! If you are running more than 5 minutes late and do not notify us, your spot will be forfeited to a waitlist or standby client.
  • What happens if I need to switch my class?
If you need to switch your class (same day reservation only) you can email us at info@studioslowburn.com
  • How does the waitlist work?
The waitlist allows you to reserve a spot in the waitlist if the class is full. If a spot opens up prior to the 12 hour cancellation window, you will automatically be added to the class and receive an email confirmation. You are responsible for removing yourself from the waitlist if you find that you cannot attend the class. All of the cancellation penalties apply if you are added to the class and do not show up for it. If you are on the waitlist and decide to show up at the studio to see if a spot becomes available, you can get onto a XFORMER if a spot is open. However, if a client with a reservation shows up within the first 5 minutes of class, then unfortunately you will not be able to stay in class.
  • How far in advance can I book a class?
If you have a membership, you get access to book classes 14 days in advance! If you are booking with a credit package or a single class credit, you can book your class 7 days in advance!
  • How old do I have to be to take a class?
All clients must be 15 years of age.  Clients ages 15-17 require a signature from a parent or guardian in- studio.
  • Are there different class levels?

If you have a injury, please let the instructor know before the start of class so that they can ensure that the correct modifications are given to keep you safe.
  • Can I take class if I am pregnant?
If you have been working out at Slow Burn before becoming pregnant, you can continue to do so as long as you are comfortable and have been cleared by your doctor! Be sure to let us know so that instructor may provide modifications for you throughout your session. **Doctors do not advise that you try a new workout while pregnant. For that reason, we do not allow first-time clients who are pregnant, unless you have taken a similar method of Pilates. If you are pregnant and have NEVER taken class at Slow Burn prior to becoming pregnant, we kindly ask that you wait to take your first session with us until you are no longer pregnant. Safety First!
